Casa Sargocal, Sobradinho / Alfeicao, Loule, Algarve, Portugal
Location:
Casa Sargocal lies about 2km, to the West of Loule just off the Loule to Boliquieme Road. It takes about 20 minutes from Faro airport. It
is situated on a South facing slope of the range of hills lying slightly inland from the coast. The location is quiet, peaceful and rural
(but not isolated; there are other villas in the vicinity, the nearest being about 250m away on the other side of the road) and has been
declared a conservation area. A detailed location map is available here.
Manuel's Bar is a short walk from the villa.
There are views of the coast which is about 20 minutes drive away. The villa lies directly inland from the Quinta do Lago to Vilamoura
stretch of the Algarvian coast which has many sandy beaches, golf courses and numerous entertainments of every description.
Loule is the principal market town of the Algarve which has recently undergone considerable modernisation. It has, however, retained
its charm and now benefits from supermarkets, banks, shops and restaurants. The covered market selling local produce, particularly fresh
fish, meat and vegetables, is a must. It is open 6 days a week but is especially busy on a Saturday.
The villa is handily placed for accessing the motorway at either Loule or Boliqueime and from there Seville can be reached in an hour
and a half, Lisbon in about three hours and Cape St Vincent and the West coast, with its fabulous surfing beaches, in an hour.
Albufeirra, Portimao, Lagoa, the pine forested Monchique and Faro itself are all within easy reach.
The
Villa: is arranged on 3 levels which each have generous terracing facing South to the coast. On the lower level is the swimming
pool measuring 10 x 5m. It is about 1.2m deep at the shallow end and 3.5m deep at the deep end. There are steps in one corner of the
shallow end. It has underwater lighting. The pool is surrounded by ample terracing for sunbathers.
Ascending by steps to ground floor level there is then a wide main terrace with an outside table and umbrella, seating 12. There is
some shade here from the overhanging balcony above. There are wrought iron railings guarding the drop from this terrace to the lower
swimming pool terrace. There is a selection of canvas and fibre glass recliners.
